Externals are neither good nor evil in themselves as they are subject to the guidance of either wisdom or ignorance. Therefore they are indifferents. The degree to which they are beneficial to us or others depends on whether they are used, or to what degree they are used, under the guidance of wisdom or ignorance.
Well-being and happiness does not come from the appeasement of our bodies, but of the appeasement of our ruling faculty (hegemonikon).
I shall do, unless I am prevented from doing.
There is no greater reward for a good man, than to do what is noble and right.
The recompense for virtuous deeds lies in the deeds themselves.
The perfection of wisdom is what makes the happy life, although even the beginnings of wisdom make life bearable.
To hope for something, is to fear to be without it.
